The Pasternack Lab has received > $18.6 million in research funding from many different sponsors.  We pledge to provide independent, science-based investigations of basic and applied problems. Sponsors often have liaisons who collaborate in research. We seek sponsor reviews to gain their suggestions about our writing, because they often have exclelent local knowledge of the setting we are studying. They do not have any censorship rights over what we say or write, not can they tell us what words to write. A sponsor may have discretion over the use (or non-use) of whole datasets collected with their funding for our writing, depending on contract terms, but they cannot "cherry pick" data points or anything like that. Our highest impaerative is to always follow the science wherever it takes us, not the agenda or interest of a sponsor.
