Prof. Pasternack has been a professor at UC Davis since 1998. His teaching, service, and research revolve around helping society manage and restore its aquatic and riparian environments. Prof. Pasternack participates in a variety of river management activities with local, state, and federal governments as well as other stakeholders. He has also served as an expert witness in legal cases. He has been teaching HYD143 regularly since 1999. His PhD advisor, Grace Brush, made the Maryland state map of vegetation and inspired the creation of this course through her passion for investigating the intertwining of plant ecology and physical processes.

Bio: Tatiana Sierra completed her Master's degree in Community Development and is currently a PhD student in the Geography Graduate Group. Her research focus on compounding disasters and their impacts on rural communities in northern California is influenced by the 2017, 2019, and 2020 wildfires that affected her community. Tatiana is excited to join the HYD143 teaching team for WQ24, please feel free to reach out over email or drop by her office hour if you have questions about assignments or just want to chat.

Bio: Judi Eppele graduated from UC Davis in 2022 with her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Management, and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Community Development. She plans to focus her research on analyzing and proliferating environmental education for those in unconventional learning environments, such as homeschoolers and those in adult schools. She is so excited to join the HYD143 team as some of her favorite courses in her undergraduate career were limnology and stream ecology.
