2D Modeling Terrain Variability

Week 5 Detailed Activities

Tutorial 2 is due today

In class this week we will review the results of your in-phase and out-of-phase model results. We will also discuss fluvial terrain patterns, River Builder software, and Lane’s study.

Do tutorial 3 between today and next class.

Come to Class Having Read

  • Read Lane et al. (2018) to see a study that compares/contrasts the 2D ecohydraulics of two channel types and two flow regimes.

This video is on YouTube and is embedded from there. it is the second of 5 videos explaining how to analyze river topographic patterns, but for the purposes of this class the video works fine as a stand-alone introduction to the concept that rivers have linked bed and width undulations such as those represented in the two model simulations run in tutorial 2.
