Prof. Pasternack has been a professor at UC Davis since 1998. His teaching, service, and research revolve around helping society manage and restore its aquatic and riparian environments. Prof. Pasternack participates in a variety of river management activities with local, state, and federal governments as well as other stakeholders. He has also served as an expert witness in legal cases. He has been teaching HYD143 regularly since 1999. His PhD advisor, Grace Brush, made the Maryland state map of vegetation and inspired the creation of this course through her passion for investigating the intertwining of plant ecology and physical processes.
